The inspiration for this blog comes from two of my brothers in Christ specifically, but of course it is also fueled by you the reader, your responses, your feedback, and most of all your prayers are what continue to drive me forward. You inflame the fire of my heart and I thank you.
Back to my two brothers, both are great men. One is discerning the priesthood, the other grew up Catholic, is still a man of so much fire, passion, and has a real servant’s heart, but has separated himself from the church, her doors and her teachings. Both men are very near and dear to me. Both have a deep desire to make the world a better place, and my heart rejoices in that common spirit of love! Nevertheless, my heart hurts, is saddened, and WEEPS at the thought of how many like my brother in Christ have disowned their faith. Why would anyone run from a God and Man who such a loving savior? Usually due to some kind of pain or suffering, but it probably has a great deal to do with us! Do we do enough to live our faith outside the Church doors? Do we give people, like this man, a reason to hope, a reason to look past the sufferings and empty satisfactions of this material world? Do we truly reflect Jesus’ love to those who hate us, those who suffer, those who doubt God as a result of our inaction, or worse, judgement and disdain when they sought communion?
Even today I doubt and ask myself, am I doing enough for my brothers and family members that have turned away from God and placed their trust and their time in whatever the world says is important?
My brothers and sisters, let us pray! For them, and for us to run to the Lord in special moments when we can be an example for others! Keep Him in your mind frequently, share little moments with him, let Him be your strength and your courage to live a life that will BUILD His Kingdom here on Earth. We must fight for souls! How many times do we concede and go with flow, even if that channel leads to wickedness, and a missed opportunity to live out the gospel?
Each day is a gift, each breath we take and moment we live is an intimately wrapped gift from a loving savior! In His passion He conquered, sin, death, and wickedness, not by power, not with money, allies, armies, politicians, but with LOVE! BE HIS HANDS AND FEET ON EARTH. Let us not WASTE our lives with a pursuit of things that will not last, items that will not satisfy! As Fr. James Swift once said, ENTER into that hunger for something greater! Enter into that feeling of emptiness and incompletion! Let Jesus speak to you in those moments, let Him show you how, and in what little ways NOW that you can fight to bring souls closer to Him, and to do the work here on Earth that has in mind for you and you alone!
